I won’t pick a fight with what you feel
I won’t cut the breaks and gas before giving you the wheel
There’s still snow on the grass in the shadow of the sycamore
There’s a point to be made, a barren branch
Not dead until it breaks
It’s not the way around, it’s not the way around
I see through you and it ‘aint the way around
I get scared when my hands go numb this long
I push harder when my voice is sore
From talking to the bathroom wall
In the upper mezzanine for soft-spoken apologies
At least you found your light
It’s not the way around, it’s not the way around
I see through you and it ‘aint the way around
Slamming dishes down, broken circle back around
I see through you and it ‘aint the way around
Spring is around the corner now, all will melt and dry
We will keep the sycamore from first bloom to lighting to strike
It’s not the way around, so don’t you tell me now
You see through me but it ‘aint the way around
What got me inspired back in my teens was punk, post punk and hardcore. I am from Washington, DC. Born and raised. Beautiful music burst out of my city. With a zealot's pride I embraced it. Dischord Records. Go Go music. So much jagged beauty and emotion. So much of my reality reflected back at me.
This has that specialness. Thanks to High Vis for existing and making this music. Michael Lenzi
